Criteria

The Stephen Millan Scholarship for Law Students is awarded based on a combination of academic merit, demonstrated commitment to community service, and the quality of the essay submitted. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Enrollment in a Juris Doctor (JD) program: Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited Juris Doctor program at a recognized institution.
  2. Academic Achievement: Applicants should demonstrate strong academic performance and a commitment to excellence in their legal studies.
  3. Community Service: We value applicants who have actively engaged in community service or volunteer activities, demonstrating a dedication to making a positive impact beyond the classroom.
  4. Essay Submission: Applicants must submit a well-crafted essay that addresses the provided prompt and showcases their analytical thinking, writing skills, and unique perspective on the given topic.

In your essay, reflect on a significant legal case or issue that has personally inspired you and discuss its impact on your understanding of justice, advocacy, and the role of law in society. How has this case or issue shaped your aspirations as a future legal professional, and what steps do you plan to take to address similar challenges in your career?
